My Journey from Banker to Food Blogger

I always loved cooking and baking, but I never thought of it as a career until I left my banking job in 2014 to start my own food blog. At the time, I was living in San Francisco and working on a startup. It was a big change for me, but it felt like the right decision.

I started Hina’s Kitchen with one goal in mind: to share recipes that are fun, healthy, and delicious. And over the past two years, I’ve been able to do just that. My blog has grown steadily since then, and I’m now one of the most popular food bloggers in the United States.

My journey from banker to food blogger has been incredibly rewarding. Not only have I been able to make a living from my passion, but I’ve also built some great relationships along the way. Now more than ever, food is an important part of my life, and I hope to keep sharing recipes and tips with you guys for years to come.

The Challenges I Face as a Food Blogger

As a banker, Hina Gujral was used to analyzing and forecasting financial data. But when she decided to take the plunge and become a food blogger, her old skills quickly proved useless. “I didn’t know how to analyze or compile information into a cohesive blog post,” she says. “It was like starting from scratch.”

But Gujral didn’t give up. She read everything she could find on food blogging, studied the styles of other bloggers, and made some adjustments of her own. Slowly but surely, her skills improved, and she started to build an audience around her blog. Nowadays, she’s one of the most popular food bloggers in India, with more than 600,000 followers on Instagram and 200,000 subscribers on her website.

Despite the challenges inherent in being a food blogger — dealing with fluctuating restaurant prices; navigating tricky dietary restrictions; and handling criticism from readers — Gujral says it’s been worth it. “Food is my passion,” she says. “And I love sharing my experiences with others.”

What I Learned Along the Way

Hina Gujral, a banker turned blogger, has spent the past year documenting her culinary journey across India. After moving to Mumbai in search of a new challenge, she started cooking for herself and others in her neighborhood. This led to writing about her experiences and sharing recipes on her blog, Hina’s Kitchen. Gujral’s blog is full of insightful commentary on Indian food culture and cuisine, as well as tips for home cooks. She has also given lectures on Indian food at universities and food festivals around the country.

In this blog post, Gujral shares some of the lessons she’s learned along the way:

1) It’s important to have a passion for what you’re doing if you want to succeed. For me, cooking was something I enjoyed doing for myself and then sharing with others. I wasn’t looking for any recognition or accolades – I just wanted to share my experiences with others who might find them interesting too.

2)persevere when things get tough. From the very beginning, it was clear that blogging would be an uphill battle: there were no established bloggers in Mumbai at the time, no recipe forums or online communities geared towards Indian cuisine, and no dedicated audience quite yet. So I had to work hard to build an audience and cultivate relationships with other food enthusiasts – even if it meant going out on a limb sometimes (like when I hosted my first live Q&A panel at
