Sinha was born in 1988 in a small village in Uttar Pradesh. When she was just five years old, her father passed away, leaving her mother to raise her three children alone. As a result, Sinha had to drop out of school after only finishing fifth grade. To help support her family, she started working as a daily wage labourer.

In 2011, Sinha’s life took a turn for the worse when she was pushed off a moving train by some robbers. The fall resulted in her left leg being amputated below the knee.

Despite this setback, Sinha did not give up on her dreams. In 2013, she began training to climb Mount Everest with the help of Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Everest. On 21st May 2019, Sinha reached the peak ofMount Everest, fulfilling her lifelong dream.

This incident could have broken Arunima but she decided to turn it into an opportunity. After almost two years of rehabilitation, she started training for mountaineering under the guidance of Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Mount Everest.

In 2013, Arunima scaled Mount Everest, becoming the first female amputee to do so. She has since gone on to conquer several other peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus and Kosciuszko Main Range.
