Introduction to Arunima Sinha

Sinha was born in 1988 in a small village in Uttar Pradesh. When she was just five years old, her father passed away, leaving her mother to raise her three children alone. Arunima did her schooling from Bara Intermediate College and later enrolled in Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology to study Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed).
In 2011, while she was travelling by train to Delhi to take her examination, some thieves snatched her bag and pushed her out of the moving train. As a result, she lost one of her legs.
This incident could have broken Arunima but she decided to turn it into an opportunity. After almost two years of rehabilitation, she started training for mountaineering under the guidance of Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Mount Everest.
